GE to sell Appliances business to Haier for $5.4 billion

GE says it has signed a definitive agreement to sell its Appliances business to Qingdao Haier Co. for $5.4 billion. The transaction has been approved by the board of directors at GE and Haier, and remains subject to customary closing conditions, including Haier shareholder approval, and regulatory approvals. Johnson Controls says it is enhancing its HFC product lines to be fully compatible with the non-flammable, low-GWP (global warming potential) refrigerant—Opteon XP10 (R-513A).
