GE says it has signed a definitive agreement to sell its Appliances business to Qingdao Haier Co. for $5.4 billion. The transaction has been approved by the board of directors at GE and Haier, and remains subject to customary closing conditions, including Haier shareholder approval, and regulatory approvals. GE says the deal is targeted to close in mid-2016.

The company says the York centrifugal and screw chillers ranging from 125 to 6000 tons (440 to 21,100 kW) are now compatible with R-513A.
