CertainTeed Optima system is for closed-cavity applications

June 9, 2016 - CertainTeed Optima is a closed-cavity system of unbonded, blow-in insulation, suited for providing thermal and sound insulation in sidewalls, cathedral ceilings and other similar spaces.

The insulation is white, loose-fill virgin fiberglass designed for pneumatic machine installation behind non-woven Optima fabric. The company notes it can be used with InsulSafe XC in the Blow-In-Blanket System (BIBS) and, because the insulation is blown in dry, walls and ceilings are immediately ready for drywall.

“Blown-in insulation is thermally efficient,” says Kate Campbell, a celebrity contractor and media personality. “That’s because it fills voids to provide higher R-values per inch.”

CertainTeed says its fiberglass insulation products are formaldehyde-free and Greenguard Gold-certified for low chemical emissions during product usage. The insulation will not settle, the company adds, and resists mould and mildew.
