GE’s puck-shaped LED module gives lighting designers and end–users the ability to upgrade LED lighting as technology advances. The module uses an installation process—a clockwise twist motion—that the company says contrasts sharply with current integrated LED luminaires and modules that require mechanical fasteners to couple the LED package to a heat sink, and a plug to make the electrical connection. GE boasts that with its module, the necessary thermal and electrical connections are made with a twist of the unit into its socket.
