Canadians qualify for Schneider Electric’s Go Green in the City 2016 finals

July 19, 2016 - A Canadian team is among the 12 finalists for Schneider Electric’s sixth edition of the Go Green in the City, an international student competition to find innovative energy solutions for smart cities. After more than 16,400 entries, these 12 teams will compete in Paris this September for the grand prize: the opportunity to work with Schneider Electric and a world tour of the company's offices.

The Canadian team, Cyclicity, is Stephanie Koenig and Paul Grawitz, who hail from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, B.C.

Other finalists include: Anemoi (Germany); DeLight (Azerbaijan); Green Dreamers (China); Green Link (China); Holoenergy-energy for all (Brazil); Scarf (Indonesia); SolarWay (United Arab Emirates); Spartans (India); Team Achievers (Kenya); The Mavericks (India); Xponential (China – Hong Kong).

These finalists now have eight weeks to prepare for their presentations and question and answer sessions with a jury panel of Schneider Electric experts and managers. Each team will continue to receive support from their mentor, a Schneider Electric employee providing advice since the semi-final.

Launched in 2011, Go Green in the City offers engineering and business students (starting from the second-year of university) a chance to present their energy management ideas for smart cities in one of five areas: residential, universities, business, hospitals or water management. Each team must include at least one woman.
