ENMAX commits three more years to Calgary’s Energizing Spaces Fund
December 19, 2016 - Thanks to an extended, three-year funding commitment from ENMAX, the Energizing Spaces Fund can continue to help Calgary’s community centres and outdoor spaces upgrade to more energy-efficient solutions, announced the Federation of Calgary Communities.

“The Energizing Spaces Fund has helped so many of our members replace old, inefficient appliances and outdoor lighting, and we are thrilled that it will be able to re-energize even more organizations over the next three years”, said Leslie Evans, executive director of the Federation of Calgary Communities.
In 2015, the Federation of Calgary Communities and ENMAX Corporation created the Energizing Spaces Fund and since its launch, the fund has awarded $150,000 to 27 local community centres to help replace aging and inefficient appliances as well as upgrade outdoor and ice rink lighting. These upgrades are helping the not-for-profit organizations decrease operating costs, increase safety of outdoor areas and enhance their capacity to offer events, childcare and other programming.
“Working with the Federation of Calgary Communities on the Energizing Spaces Fund program has allowed us to help brighten community spaces across the city,” said Michelle Hogaboam, manager of community investment with ENMAX. “With continued demand for the program, ENMAX is providing an additional $225,000 through to 2019 to facilitate their transition to energy efficiency.”
Calgary boasts 100 community centres and 70 outdoor ice rinks.
