Horizon Utilities helps Mount Albion Foodland save over 53,000 kWh/year
August 13, 2015 - Horizon Utilities has recognized Mount Albion Foodland in Hamilton, Ont. for undertaking a lighting retrofit initiative that will save an estimated 53,121 kWh per year.

Conservation and demand management teams from Horizon Utilities, which provides electricity to Hamilton and St. Catharines, Ont., worked with Mount Albion Foodland to find greater efficiencies and access incentives offered by the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO).
Mount Albion Foodland replaced outdated incandescent lighting with new LED refrigerator strip lighting and ceiling LED Troffers. The local grocery store also qualified for a $22,840.00 saveONenergy retrofit incentive for dramatically reducing the company’s energy consumption.
“We’re proud to support our local businesses and assist in finding solutions to encourage greater energy efficiency,” said Brian Smith, chief conservation officer at Horizon Utilities. “Our customers agree it makes good business sense to use the expertise and IESO incentives to reduce energy use and save money for their companies.”
