While these states must address numerous barriers to energy efficiency, a real window of opportunity exists to move efficiency forward.

BOMA BESt Buildings consume energy 16% better than Canadian average

April 27, 2012 - The Building Owners and Managers Association of Canada (BOMA Canada) released the English version of its third annual “BOMA BESt Energy and Environmental Report” (BBEER), which shows the average energy consumption per square foot for BOMA BESt-certified office buildings is 30.8 equivalent kilowatt-hours per square foot, per year (ekWh/sf/yr). This makes them, claims BOMA Canada, 16% better than the national average (according to NRCan’s Office of Energy Efficiency [OEE], the national average is 36.65 ekWh/sf/yr.
