Roxul and TV’s Scott McGillivray announce Get Between the Studs winner

Pratley’s entry has earned him $10,000 toward his home remodel, $1200 in Roxul product, and a design consultation with real estate expert and “Income Property” host McGillivray.

“It’s still sinking in,” Pratley said. “Our dream is to create a sanctuary from everyday stress. With the benefits of Roxul insulation and Scott’s expertise, this remodel will enable us to enjoy what is currently an unusable basement space.”  

The goal of the Get Between the Studs initiative was to encourage individuals to consider what’s behind their walls, emphasizing the role that insulation plays in a quality remodel, Roxul stated. Countless homeowners answered the call, sending in creative photo and video contest submissions to explain why they needed a Roxul makeover.

“All the entries were amazing, making it tough to pick just one winner, but the outstanding creativity of Mark’s submission is what really set him apart,” McGillivray said. “He was able to clearly articulate his challenge in a fun and engaging way, describing how Roxul insulation could change his home and his life for the better. The tie-in to stone wool’s Hawaiian roots was a nice touch, but the kicker was Mark’s expertly hand-crafted Roxul wardrobe.”

Heat loss and noise are the biggest challenges in the Pratleys’ 1860s heritage home. With Roxul solutions in place, McGillivray said his design plan will then open up the space, taking advantage of the basement’s large windows and 9 ft ceilings.
