Air King recognized as 2013 Energy Star Partner of the Year
March 20, 2013 - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has named Air King as a 2013 Energy Star Partner of the Year for its “outstanding contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by manufacturing energy-efficient products and educating consumers about energy efficiency”. This is the second year in a row that Air King has won the award.

Lithonia Lighting UCLD LED cabinet light boasts 85% energy savings
December 19, 2012 - Lithonia Lighting has introduced the UCLD LED cabinet light, featuring a dimmable, swivel head and an integral driver that eliminates the need for an external power source. The UCLD LED luminaire offers plug-and-play connectivity of up to 29 fixtures that are 24-in. in length to one power source, and claims to deliver up to 85% energy savings when compared to fluorescent. The cabinet light is Energy Star qualified.

Broan-NuTone unveils LP80 and LPN80 LoProfile fans
December 6, 2012 - The Energy Star Broan LP80 and NuTone LPN80 ventilation fans are designed for installations where conventional ventilation won’t fit, says the company. The LoProfile fans, providing 80 CFM of ventilation, can be installed in a wall between 2-in. x 4-in. studs. According to Broan-NuTone, the LoProfile fans can still fit without having to move anything.

UPS product from APC by Schneider first to receive Energy Star certificate
September 25, 2012 - UL awarded the first uninterruptible power supply (UPS) Energy Star certificate to APC by Schneider Electric (APC). According to UL, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) added UPS products to its scope of regulated products. To qualify for the Energy Star program, APC UPS units met the world’s most stringent energy efficiency standards. “The fact that UL awarded the first UPS product Energy Star certificate for APC demonstrates its determination to pursue sustainable development, and is also testimony of its long-term strategy in the field of energy efficiency,” said Michael Shows, global business manager for energy efficiency, UL Verification Services. In recent years, UL says it has been accelerating the expansion the testing and certification in the field of energy efficiency services and capabilities, including the extension to UPS products, which also “help enhance the authority and popularity” of the Energy Star program and “advocacy of energy saving and environmental protection”.

Cree expands CR series with CR4 and CR6 LEDs
July 27, 2012 - Cree has expanded the CR Series LED downlights to include the 4"-CR4 and 6"-CR6. The CR4 delivers 575 lumens and more than 60 lumens per watt, while the CR6 delivers up to 67 lumens per watt and claims to use 87% less energy than comparable incandescent lighting. The series is dimmable to 5% and is qualified for both residential and commercial Energy Star standards.
