3M celebrates 50 years of “unsung hero” window films
February 2, 2016 - 50 years ago, 3M designed a window film that, it says, continues to deliver “outstanding sun control, unparalleled comfort and UV protection”. Today, the company provides window films encompassing everything from sun control to safety and security.

“Despite its nearly invisible nature, the product is the unsung hero of many homes and buildings as it rejects solar heat, reduces fading and the effects of UV exposure, and offers an additional layer of protection to any window,” said 3M’s Tim Thornton.
In celebration of 3M Window Film’s 50th anniversary, the company has planned a variety of communications throughout the year, including a dedicated site at 3M.com/Remarkable, and a new campaign highlighting variations of the theme “So remarkable you may not have noticed…”.
