August 17, 2016 - CertainTeed Membrain, the continuous air barrier and smart vapour retarder, has received a positive re-evaluation report from the Canadian Construction Materials Centre for its compliance with the National Building Code (NBC) of Canada.

The full report is available HERE or for download below.

“Air tightness without proper moisture management can eliminate moisture’s escape path, trapping it within a home’s walls,” CertainTeed explains. In Canada where homes are heated in the winter and cooled in the summer, traditional polyethylene air and vapour retarders may actually lock moisture in the wall cavity, the company adds, raising the risk of dampness and mould issues, structural damage, and health problems.

CertainTeed’s solution is MemBrain, made from material that “changes its permeability with the ambient humidity conditions”.

MemBrain is available in 8-ft, 9-ft and 10-ft rolls at Lowe’s across Canada and online.
