Tackling refrigeration emissions from ice rinks, grocery stores, cold storage

Canada’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change is “taking action to reduce harmful pollution from cooling ice rinks, shopping centres, and grocery stores” with a project type eligible to generate offset credits under Canada’s Greenhouse Gas Offset Credit System. The new protocol encourages businesses to upgrade their refrigeration and A/C systems to ones that use refrigerants with lower global warming potentials by rewarding them with offset credits that they can sell to generate revenue.


Rhineland’s Gretna getting upgraded for energy efficiency and more

Gretna Arena in Rhineland, Man., will be undergoing some big renovations to improve its energy efficiency, accessibility and safety, thanks in large part to funding from the federal government’s Green and Inclusive Community Buildings (GICB) program. “This grant allows the Local Urban District of Gretna to rehabilitate the Gretna Arena facility, in order to continue to meet the needs of both current and future residents of the community,” said Don Wiebe, Reeve, Municipality of Rhineland.


Automated portfolio creation and management in RETScreen

A new automated portfolio creation and management tool for portfolio-wide feasibility analysis, performance analysis (M&V), GHG reporting, etc., is available in Version 9 of the RETScreen Clean Energy Management Software platform. The tool also has a RETScreen Connect feature to allow the automatic creation of an entirely new portfolio and to update existing portfolios.
