Efficiency incentives available to Islander farmers – Dec 2020
December 4, 2020 By Anthony Capkun

December 4, 2020 – Prince Edward Island wants to remind you that efficiency incentives are available to Islander farmers, who are eligible to receive rebates for upgrading to LED lighting and energy-efficient equipment, like heat pumps.
“Farming and agriculture are a large part of our Island economy. We want to ensure farmers can afford to continue their operations—saving money and energy whenever possible,” said Steven Myers, Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy Minister.
Solar incentives include $350/kW installed, up to 40% of installed costs to a maximum of $10,000. Financing is available to assist with the upfront costs of solar installation.
The Community Energy Solutions program offers the opportunity for farmers to apply for a free energy audit. Dairy farms, in particular, may benefit from this service, as they have refrigeration and many pumps and motors onsite, says the province.
