Horizon Utilities’ Energy Savings Champions Awards 2015 recognize local businesses

April 23, 2015 - Horizon Utilities Corp. recognized five customers and contractors in St. Catharines and Hamilton, Ont. today for implementing “innovative energy conservation and demand management projects,” involving retrofits, lighting fixtures and heating and cooling systems.

“Horizon Utilities places energy conservation and sustainable development at the centre of all we do”, said Max Cananzi, president and CEO of Horizon Utilities. “We are pleased to recognize these local businesses with Energy Savings Champions Awards for demonstrating leadership in conservation and demand management. These community leaders realize it makes good business sense to use the expertise and incentives that Horizon Utilities offers to reduce energy use and save money in their companies.”

Horizon Utilities presented awards in five categories:

• Demand Reduction: Denninger’s Foods of the World     
• Energy Savings: Hamilton Health Sciences     
• Most Innovative Project: Gay Lea Foods Co-Operative Ltd. (Salerno Dairy)     
• Channel Partner–Lighting: All Professional Trades    
• Channel Partner–Non-Lighting: Star Energy Solutions

The awards were presented during a breakfast event by Eileen Campbell, vice-president of customer services of Horizon Utilities and Horizon Utilities’ Chief Conservation Officer Brian Smith. The event also featured an address from guest speaker Glenn Gibson, Tiger-Cats vice-chairman and former president and COO.
