Montreal’s Hôtel Le Crystal was recently updated with nearly 3,000 of LEDVANCE’s Sylvania LED lamps to provide better illumination for its parking spaces, conference rooms and offices, while also saving an estimated 365,158 kWh of electricity per year.

“To be at the forefront of Montreal’s ‘green-friendly’ hotel community, we employ technology to decrease consumption,” says Francois Guité, administrator. “We saw an opportunity with our lighting to save energy while enhancing the guest experience.”

Specifically, the five-star hotel installed 1,100 SubstiTube IPS T8 and 1,750 Orios MR16 lamps, which are anticipated to save $24,985 in annual energy costs and $27,159 in annual maintenance costs.

The SubstiTubes replaced fluorescent lamps in the parking garage, hotel, conference rooms and offices, in the latter cases offering the option for occupants to dim the lighting as needed. The 6-W Orios lamps, meanwhile, replaced 35-W halogen MR16 lamps.

“We appreciate how the new lighting enhances our location and helps us meet our sustainability objectives by saving energy,” says Guité.
