Igor launches IoT intelligent UV-C disinfection solution

June 4, 2020  By Anthony Capkun

June 3, 2020 – Igor Inc.—a player in PoE-based IoT—announced the general availability of Nexos Intelligent Disinfection—a solution that pairs ultraviolet (UV-C) lighting with IoT controls to enable widespread, automated disinfection of surfaces.

“Igor’s turnkey, rapid-deployment solution kit instantly provides maintenance-free automated disinfection, minimizes human contact and creates an audit trail of data,” said Igor founder and chief technology officer, Dwight Stewart.

UV-C light is found within the ultraviolet spectrum; it renders harmful micro-organisms like bacteria and viruses ineffective by destroying their RNA, thereby denying them the ability to regenerate.

Exposing humans to UV-C is not advisable, which is why Igor designed Nexos ID to connect with other smart devices, such as occupancy sensors and motion detectors—and can also be configured to work with smart locks and warning lights—to prevent humans from entering a space that is being cleaned.

Nexos ID’s PoE connectivity makes it easy to integrate several other disinfection systems beyond UV-C lighting, says Igor, like intelligent air purifiers or gas vaporizers. With all solutions unified within Igor, facility owners/managers have a comprehensive view and data-rich evidence of the proactive actions taken to prevent virus outbreaks in their buildings.

Igor’s flagship product, Nexos, is a PoE-based IoT smart building platform that incorporates hardware, software and cloud analytics to enable smart and secure buildings.
