Cosimo (‘Cos’) La Porta, one of the incumbent directors of Vancouver-based Legend Power Systems, which develops SmartGate on-site energy management systems, has been appointed chair.

La Porta has served for 18 years in senior roles for Starbucks Coffee, most recently as executive vice-president (EVP) of its U.S. retail business, with responsibility for 150,000 employees and operations of 7,600 stores. His appointment was announced on June 20 at Legend’s annual general meeting (AGM).

“I am extremely grateful and proud to be part of Legend, an innovative company focused on solving a global problem,” he says, referring to SmartGate’s reduction of total energy consumption and power costs for buildings. “I have tremendous confidence in the management team and board as we continue to scale this business.”
