Scalable cooling solutions for server environments

Rittal expands their scalable, cost effective, cooling solutions to tackle increasing heat loads generated in TS8 server racks.

May 5, 2009  By Energy Management

For high density server applications, where heat loads are between 1.5 kW and 3 kW, the TS8 server rack has mesh doors front and back with over 64 per cent open surface area to aid air flow from front to rear. The TS8 accessory range includes 482.6mm (19") fan trays to manage air through the rack, together with fan units that can be positioned in specific rack locations to prevent hot spots and support air routing.

A revolutionary air/water heat exchanger side panel, launched at CeBIT 2004, can be integrated into the TS8 server rack for applications where heat loads generated are between 4 kW and 12 kW. The heat exchangers can be placed on a single rack or between bayed racks, with a cooling output of 12 kW at a water inlet temperature of 15 degrees centigrade. These unique side panels come as standard with a single air to water heat exchanger of 4 kW, but it is possible to add a further 2 for a total cooling output of 12 kW.
