Siemens debuts KNX-capable RDF800KN thermostat

September 24, 2014 - Siemens Building Technologies has added the KNX-capable RDF800KN model to its range of communications-enabled room thermostats, which it says offers numerous energy-efficiency functions. Boasting an intuitive operating concept, the touch functionality promises to make the device easy and convenient to use so that it is particularly suitable for applications in hotels and residential buildings. The unit supports a range of applications for fan coils, heating/cooling systems and heat pumps, while the room temperature is controlled either with the integrated temperature sensor or an external room or return air sensor. According to Siemens, the RDF800KN automatically selects the most energy-efficient settings, which could include demand-based air handling, individual room control, setpoint limits, timer programs and presence/absence detection.
