BuildingIQ acquires Buildingsense to bring energy-saving platform to new construction and retrofits

The acquisition will bring BuildingIQ’s embedded cloud-based 5i platform to new and major retrofit building projects around the world to help maximize energy efficiency from their inception. In the past, the two companies provided ‘intelligent building’ services for more than 30 buildings across Australia.

“Until recently, we have offered optimization-as-a-service to owner-operators of existing buildings, regardless of each building’s state,” explains Steve Nguyen, vice-president (VP) of products for BuildingIQ. “The acquisition of Buildingsense gives us the opportunity to embed optimization of operations, energy and comfort, in the form of our 5i suite of services, right from the beginning. We can extract, catalogue and analyze data and actions taken from the star of a building’s life cycle.”

“The legacy of our partnership in Australia creates a platform for global growth in the greenfield space,” says Michael Nark, BuildingIQ’s CEO. “We have strengthened our sales and marketing capabilities in this area. That will drive our ability to service new construction in North America and beyond, where we already optimize existing and retrofit buildings.”
