FortisAlberta ups Earth Hour grants to help municipalities save energy

March 9, 2016 - Due to a high level of interest in the program last year, FortisAlberta says it has increased the amount of its Earth Hour grants to enable municipalities to create or enhance energy efficiencies in their communities. First, second and third place winners will be awarded with $7500, $5000 and $2500 grants respectively.

Grants will be awarded to the top three communities with the highest energy savings per capita during the Earth Hour event that takes place on March 19, 2016, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Due to reporting restrictions, only municipalities with a FortisAlberta franchise agreement are eligible to apply for this grant.

Earth Hour is a global event that takes place every March with the goal of encouraging people and businesses to turn off unnecessary lights, appliances and electronic devices to help conserve power.
