The company recently recognized energy managers from five of the 18 sites that took part in the “Energy Marathon”—a company-wide competition that ran October 1 through 26, and reduced total electricity usage by 15.4% from a September 2014 baseline.

“By challenging employees across North America to participate in Legrand’s Energy Marathon competition, we were able to save 588,540 kWh of electricity and about $47,000 in less than a month,” said Legrand’s Susan Rochford.

The ultimate winner this year was the company’s site in Plano, Texas, which had achieved an energy usage reduction of 63.1%.

“The challenge now is to sustain these conservation practices over the long term. Going forward, we’ll share the best practices across the company, and also monitor to how well sites are maintaining the reductions,” said Rochford.
