Non-profit helps 7-Eleven plan for better energy efficiency by 2025

July 11, 2016 - 7-Eleven Inc. says it has a new mission where its energy use is concerned. It has begun working with Conservation International (CI), a non-profit “dedicated to building a healthier planet through science, policy and partnerships,” to set “measurable corporate social responsibility (CSR) goals to reduce its environmental footprint”. As part of this, 7-Eleven hopes to reduce its energy footprint in stores and offices by 20% by 2025.

The company says it has decreased electricity use in store operations by an estimated 21% over the past seven years through projects including installing LED lighting, energy management systems and high efficiency HVAC units.

7-Eleven has also joined CI’s Business and Sustainability Council, a forum for corporate leaders taking positive actions in their businesses, to explore “mutually beneficial ways to further reduce its environmental impact”.

Additionally, the company is also looking at how to improve its packaging and give back to the community through grant programs and more.
