NRCan studies energy efficiency of multi-unit residential buildings

May 23, 2019 – Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan’s) office of energy efficiency is conducting a survey to collect data on multi-unit residential buildings (MURBs) in eight major cities: Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Hamilton, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Halifax.

This is the first time the office has surveyed MURBs. The collected data on building characteristics and energy consumption patterns will help guide NRCan’s future policies and programs.

“We should receive the final data sets in late 2019 and start processing the data in 2020,” says Kathy-Ann Jackson Fong, the survey’s manager.

Property managers in each of the eight cities are encouraged to participate. If selected, they will receive more information about the survey and then can answer the questions online or over the phone.
