December 11, 2013 - Blue Line Innovations has introduced a cloud-based solution that enables consumers to use their mobile device to see how much energy each of their appliances are using in real-time. The solution also includes a Wi-Fi Bridge appliance, which allows consumers who have Blue Line’s PowerCost Monitor—a home energy display—to view and manage their own household energy usage data through various free online and smart phone application partners. Main capabilities of the solution include: alerts when user is consuming energy at peak times/rates; electricity usage by key appliances; and benchmarking to allow users to compare energy savings with others.

October 15, 2013 - Atlas Copco Compressors has launched a new Kiosk app for tablets and desktop computers, promising to provide users with easy access to interactive product leaflets and an innovative energy savings calculator tool. Free to download for Apple iOS and Android tablets, as well as PC/Mac computers, the Kiosk app and calculator tool enables users to discover potential energy savings offered by Atlas Copco’s new generation of GA 7-15 kW VSD+ compressors. By indicating current energy costs per kWh, users can find out how much energy and money can be saved by switching from a traditional fixed speed compressor to a GA VSD+ compressor—about 50%, says the company.

November 15, 2011 - The Siemens Industry Automation Division has equipped its modular, sector-independent Simatic WinCC/B.Data energy management system with new functions, such as a data connection wizard which it says facilitates easy and efficient linking of energy measuring points and WinCCarchive tags to B.Data. The wizard also supports the user in acquiring data from various sources such as WinCC, OPC or FTP. Installation is significantly faster and easier, it adds. The new V5.2 SP1 version not only supports WinCC V7.0 SP2 but also the supervisory control and data acquisition Scada system Simatic WinCC RT Professional V11 SP1, which is used to connect the energy management system to the runtime system of the TIA Portal engineering framework, says Siemens.
