September 19, 2018 - Scale Computing has partnered with Schneider Electric’s APC division to jointly develop a ‘micro data centre in a box’ for power management and other applications across North America.

Under the terms of the agreement, Scale supplies HC3 HyperCore software and Schneider delivers APC-branded enclosures to create the new turnkey platform. With a pay-as-you-go business model, users can start small and then scale up as needed.

The platform is designed for organizations in a wide variety of sectors—including retailers, universities, hospitals and utilities—that can benefit from embedded compute-and-storage capacity close to where they generate data. According to 451 Research, micro data centres on the ‘edge’ of a network are becoming more popular, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 42 per cent over the past three years.

“One of the biggest challenges faced by businesses today is how to simplify edge information technology (IT) environments,” says Jeff Ready, Scale Computing’s CEO. “Our fully integrated solution will save time, money and resources.”

“When we partnered with organizations like Scale Computing, we deliver on our mission to provide certainty in a connected world,” says John Knorr, vice-president (VP) of Schneider’s global IT channel alliance.
