StepUp seeks “to improve inclusion across Canada’s energy sector”

May 23, 2022  By  Anthony Capkun

May 23, 2022 – A volunteer-run non-profit organization called StepUp has launched a Canada-wide diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI) study “to understand the status of [DEI] in Canada’s energy sector”, and they want your input.

“As the energy sector recovers from the pandemic and moves toward an innovative future, an unwavering commitment to [DEI] is imperative,” says StepUp.

The group has launched an anonymous survey that will take less than five (5) minutes to complete. The survey is open until May 30, 2022.

When complete, the survey results will be compiled into a public report that will be available on the StepUp website.

“This is an important opportunity to share feedback and perspectives from across the industry so that StepUp can identify areas of strength, and also outline the tools and actions needed to improve inclusion across Canada’s energy sector,” said Emily Thorn Corthay, chair.

The study is funded by Alectra Utilities, Hydro One, Independent Electricity System Operator, and Natural Resources Canada.

Founded in 2019, StepUp focuses on “advancing gender equity, diversity, and inclusion in the energy industry to achieve a breakthrough in Canadian energy management”.
