Tekmar’s Boiler Control 284 compatible with building automation systems

February 22, 2013 - Tekmar Control Systems (Vernon, B.C.)—a Watts Water Technologies company—says its Boiler Control 284 is designed to operate up to four boilers to accurately maintain a target water temperature. The 284 operates both condensing and non-condensing boilers that are either modulating, single- or two-stage, and communicates with building automation systems (BASs). The system can be remotely monitored and adjusted through BACnet or Modbus communication. This connection makes it possible for installers and building managers to monitor boiler operation, plant and vent temperatures, system pressure, flow rates and pump operation using the BAS system interface. When no BAS connection is required, remote monitoring can be provided through TekmarNet Gateways. Tekmar says the 284 is designed to prolong the lifespan of the equipment; primary pump sequencing prevents downtime by automatically operating a second pump when a failure is detected. Other reliability features include pump exercising, equal run-time rotation, and boiler minimum and  maximum temperature settings.
