Tom Rand, Practice Lead at MaRS, becomes special advisor to Canasia Solar

TORONTO — Canasia Solar Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Canasia Power Corp. recently welcomed Tom Rand as Special Advisor to its Board.

Rand is a successful entrepreneur, author of "Kick the Fossil Fuel Habit: 10 Clean Technologies to Save the World", and Practice Lead of Clean-tech and Physical Sciences at MaRS, a multi-faceted innovation centre, in downtown Toronto, designed to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship from Canada's science and technology companies. Mr. Rand also runs his own clean tech fund called VCi Green Funds. Rand has a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, an MSc from the University of London, ON and an MA and PhD from the University of Toronto.

Canasia Solar Corp. is working with MaRS and the University of Western Ontario to design and implement a state-of-the-art multi-crystalline photovoltaic solar module manufacturing facility in Southern Ontario. Canasia Solar Corp., through Canasia Power Corp. has support of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, to develop and implement 500MW of solar energy in India. Canasia Power Corp. is a Canadian power development company that is developing over 4,500MW of solar and thermal power projects in India.
