Toronto Hydro launches OPsave, RTUsaver, PUMPsaver pilots
March 26, 2015 - This spring Toronto Hydro has three new pilot programs geared towards conservation.

OPsave is for owners or managers of commercial office buildings. It focuses on opportunities to help reduce energy consumption through operational changes.
Buildings with four or more rooftop units (RTU), each with a minimum five-ton cooling capacity, are eligible for the RTUsaver program. This pilot will test the effectiveness of installing advanced control systems on RTUs.
Lastly, PUMPsaver targets multi-unit residential and commercial buildings. Those with a main chilled or hot water supply pump more than 25 HP in size are eligible. The program looks at saving electricity by rebalancing hydronic systems.
Toronto Hydro notes there are limited spots to participate.
The pilots stem from Ontario’s new Conservation First framework, which encourages local distribution companies to develop conservation programs customized to meet regional needs.
