Electricity prices in Ontario going up 1 November 2014
October 16, 2014 - The Ontario Energy Board today announced new electricity prices that will apply to most households and small businesses starting November 1, 2014.

When the prices change, the hours for Mid-peak and On-peak prices also change to the Winter time-of-use (ToU) hours. The lowest-priced, Off-peak period remains from 7 pm to 7 am on weekdays, as well as all-day weekends and holidays.
The following outlines ToU prices and the times they are effective as of November 1, 2014:
Off-peak
Weekdays 7 pm to 7 am. All-day weekends and holidays
$0.077/kWh – Increase of $0.002
Mid-peak
Weekdays 11 am to 5 pm
$0.114/kWh – Increase of $0.002
On-peak
Weekdays 7 am to 11 am and 5 pm to 7 pm
$0.14/kWh – Increase of $0.005
The price for consumers is increasing by about $2.03 per month on the “Electricity” line, and about 1.7% on the total bill, says OEB, for a household with a typical consumption pattern and using 800 kWh per month.
The forecast includes an estimate for increases in the cost of power from rate-regulated nuclear and hydroelectric power plants. OEB reviews electricity prices twice each year based on updated cost estimates to “help smooth changes in prices over time”.
