Ontario launches emPOWERme to boost your energy literacy

November 27, 2013 - Today, the Province of Ontario launched emPOWERme, an interactive website to help energy consumers better understand the province’s electricity system.

“We’ve heard one consistent message from energy consumers, Ontarians and partners: improving public energy literacy is vital,” said Bob Chiarelli, minister of energy.

The site features five videos (see below) that explore electricity generation, distribution, measurement, the value of conservation and Ontario’s smart grid. Also included are Power Play (a way for people to build their own energy mix) and an interactive tutorial that helps break down electricity bills.

The government says emPOWERme was developed in response to public demand for greater consumer education during the consultation process leading up to the 2013 Long-Term Energy Plan.
