Viessmann Vitocell 100-VH/BH tanks promise economical and reliable DHW storage

February 5, 2013 - Viessmann says it has added several economical options to its line of indirect-fired domestic hot water (DHW) storage tanks with Vitocell 100-VH/BH series. Single-coil (Vitocell 100-VH) and dual-coil (Vitocell 100-BH) tanks are available in 79 and 119 USG (300 L and 450 L) sizes. All Vitocell 100-VH/BH models feature a large heat exchanger coil reaching to the cylinder floor “to maximize energy transfer”, utilize full tank capacity and promise fast recovery rates. The 100-BH tank includes a second coil to allow the integration of a solar thermal system and heating boiler for shared DHW production (solar heat is transferred through the lower coil, while the boiler provides supplementary heating through the upper coil). An optional 220V electric heating element adds further DHW heating flexibility to Vitocell 100-VH/BH tanks, eliminating boiler run-time in the summer, says Viessmann, or providing a permanent auxiliary heat source when solar heating is in short supply. Two inches of CFC-free foam insulation and a fitted nylon insulation jacket minimize standby losses and help contribute to operating cost savings of up to 50%, says the company, when compared to conventional direct-fired tanks. The tanks are available through Viessmann wholesale partners across Canada (excluding British Columbia and The Yukon).
