Aeroseal’s technology seals ducts and envelopes, reducing energy leakage

November 1, 2023  By  Anthony Capkun

November 23, 2023 – Aeroseal aims to make buildings more energy efficient with its technology that delivers sticky polymers into a building’s air ducts and envelopes to create seals where manual sealing methods cannot, thereby reducing energy leakage.

Further, the company says the application of its technology “requires no lifestyle change for building tenants, no building renovation, and can be done in a single afternoon”.

“The company’s solution will make it easier to electrify both new and existing buildings by significantly reducing HVAC demand and mitigating wasted energy from conventional heating and cooling systems,” said Carmichael Roberts, Breakthrough Energy Ventures.

Aeroseal cites an article from the University of Florida that says almost half of the energy used to heat or cool a building gets wasted due to leaks in its air duct system.
