Call for Proposals – Pilot based on “Energiesprong” model

The Government of Canada has issued a second Call for Proposals under the Greener Neighbourhoods Pilot Program, with a focus on deep energy retrofit Demonstration Projects. “Retrofitting Canada’s buildings stock provides us with the opportunity to make communities more resilient to climate-related impacts while reducing emissions and utility bills, increasing energy efficiency and creating good-paying jobs in construction and maintenance,” said Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Natural Resources.

Ontario municipalities sharing $900K to reduce energy and emissions

Over $900K will be split among several Ontario municipalities to help them “find the best approach to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions at municipally owned buildings”, reports Natural Resources Canada. Funding comes from the Green Municipal Fund’s Community Buildings Retrofit initiative—part of a $950-million federal spend that is designed to “scale up energy efficiency and lower emissions across Canada”.
