Alberta Innovates announced the availability of $2.5 million in funding through the Digital Innovation in Clean Energy (DICE) program—up to $250,000 per project, for a term of 18 months. “Reducing greenhouse gases, creating value for energy companies, and de-risking new technologies provides Alberta-based companies a clear advantage over their competitors and, when they succeed, it’s good for all Albertans,” said Laura Kilcrease, CEO, Alberta Innovates.

Johnson Controls celebrated the renovation of its 144,000-sf North American HQ. “This campus has been designed to create a culture of collaboration and sustainability with our OpenBlue digital platform at the core of its design,” said Vijay Sankaran, CTO. Within the headquarters facility, the 12,000-sf innovation centre is an interactive space that expects to host thousands of visitors a year.

A joint spend of over $384,000 will support retrofits to the Carnegie Building in Saint John, N.B., that aim to reduce the facility’s carbon footprint. The Government of Canada is spending more than $278,000 in this project through the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings program (GICB), and the City of Saint John is contributing more than $105,000.
