NRCan provides voluntary, self-assessment tool for HVAC operation during a pandemic

September 16, 2021  By  Anthony Capkun

September 16, 2021 – Natural Resources Canada has developed a voluntary, self-assessment tool (which you can download below) to provide feedback on the impact of your HVAC strategies during and after pandemics.

It highlights key areas and best practices for efficient HVAC operation during these times, says NRCan, and aims to help your operations team respond with greater confidence.

The tool can provide an assessment and guidance that will:

• Highlight where HVAC operation can be improved to meet energy efficiency best practices without compromising current pandemic HVAC operations guidelines.

• Provide resources and references that can help guide you in determining an enhanced HVAC operations strategy and plan during a pandemic.

• Emphasize the Existing Building Commissioning (EBCx) approach and its application to help owners undertake HVAC operation changes. NRCan’s four-phase EBCx process can often achieve savings of 10 to 15%, says the agency, as well as other non-energy benefits.
