RETScreen gets to work on automated, continuous optimization for federal facilities
February 13, 2024 By Anthony Capkun
February 23, 2024 – The RETScreen Clean Energy Management Software team has been awarded new funding from Canada’s Greening Government Fund (GGF) for a three-year project “Enabling continuous operational energy & GHG optimization for many federal facilities”.
The project aims to build automated GHG management capabilities into RETScreen Expert to enable continuous operational energy and GHG optimization for federal facilities.
“This project will [enhance] the software’s annual and monthly reporting capabilities which will, in turn, allow for the proactive optimization of operational GHG emissions and energy performance of federal facilities on a continuous daily, hourly, or 15-minute basis,” said Gregory Leng, creator of the RETScreen platform.
GGF is providing $800,000 for the project, matched by $800,000 from Natural Resources Canada, explained Leng. The Department of National Defence is providing an additional $600,000, for a total of $2.2 million over three (3) to implement these capabilities into the RETScreen platform.
As with other software development activities, says Leng, these new features will be made available to RETScreen’s 850,000+ public and private sector users around the world.
