According to the Solatube, the systems harvest daylight at the rooftop and transfer it down through a highly reflective tube (which bends up to 90 degrees and can run 50 feet or more) and distribute evenly into a room through a diffuser at the ceiling.

“Neall Digert is a brilliant and strategic member of our team,” said Robert E. Westfall Jr., international company president. “He continues to push our innovation efforts forward, ensuring that our company remains at the forefront of optical daylighting technology.”

Digert has had a long and storied career in the daylighting, lighting and energy industries and is largely viewed as a preeminent expert on optical daylighting, boasted Solatube. Recently, he was a featured speaker at Lightfair International 2011. Digert was also elected to the board of directors for the Illuminating Engineers Society (IES) and is a member of the Daylighting Collaborative and National Fenestration Rating Council.
