Session 3: Performance Analysis with RETScreen Expert

Automated High-resolution Data Analysis using RETScreen Connect
  • Sabrina Lachapelle, Project Engineer, RETScreen International
Using RETScreen for ISO 50001 and SEP Implementation at 3M Facilities
  • Andrew Hejnar, Senior Manager, Energy for United States and Canada, 3M Company
Measurement & Verification (M&V) for Energy Management with RETScreen
  • Scott Rouse, Managing Partner, Energy@Work
  • Amir Kamandlooie, Technical Director, Energy@Work
  • Edward Newton, Energy Manager, Energy@Work

The integration of big data and analytics in energy management is vital in today’s digital age. RETScreen’s Performance Analysis Module enables users to leverage this data to gain insights into their facility’s energy usage and track the progress of energy-saving initiatives.

During this session, the speakers will present case studies in which they utilized the RETScreen Performance Analysis Module to understand daily energy consumption patterns, implement energy management systems, and conduct measurement and verification analyses.

Automated High-resolution Data Analysis using RETScreen Connect

RETScreen Connect enables users to import data into RETScreen automatically using the output files from other software tools and data services. With RETScreen’s enhanced analytics capabilities, it is now possible to leverage this feature to perform automated high-resolution analyses based on real-time hourly and sub-hourly data.

In this presentation, Sabrina Lachapelle, Project Engineer at RETScreen, will demonstrate how to use the software to upload and analyze high-resolution energy data and generate informative visuals, including weekly and daily time series graphs, load duration curves, and heatmaps.

Using RETScreen for ISO 50001 and SEP Implementation at 3M Facilities

International standards such as ISO 50001 and the US Department of Energy’s Superior Energy Performance (SEP) play a significant role in enabling ongoing energy efficiency at 3M’s facilities around the world. Protocols such as these provide a consistent framework for designing, implementing, measuring, and optimizing an energy management process.

In this talk, Andrew Hejnar, Senior Manager for Energy at 3M, will discuss how RETScreen is being utilized by 3M to achieve its sustainability goals. He will show how global organizations like 3M can leverage RETScreen Expert as a powerful and flexible software platform that fits these frameworks and helps organizations in their energy management process.

Measurement & Verification (M&V) for Energy Management with RETScreen

Measurement and verification (M&V) is a crucial process in the field of energy efficiency for planning, collecting, analyzing, and reporting on data related to changes in energy usage.
In this presentation, Scott Rouse, Managing Partner at Energy@Work, will discuss how they use RETScreen’s Performance Analysis Module to service clients and provide education on important aspects of energy management. He will show a case study on the use of RETScreen for M&V to identify billing discrepancies and how RETScreen can be a key element in managing energy consumption for a commercial office building in Toronto.
