Energy managers and analysts often face the daunting task of managing a portfolio of facilities and mobile assets, whether small or large. Tracking energy consumption, GHG emissions, and various renewable energy and energy efficiency projects at each site can be challenging. RETScreen’s Portfolio Analysis capabilities make this process easier to manage.

In this session, our speakers will share their challenges and unique experiences in using RETScreen to manage their portfolio.

Canadian Government-wide Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reporting with RETScreen

As part of its Greening Government Strategy to combat climate change and promote resilience, the Government of Canada requires federal organizations to track and report their annual energy use and GHG emissions using RETScreen software.

Farah Sheriff, Senior Engineer at RETScreen, will provide an overview of her role in overseeing these reporting activities and supporting federal departments. The presentation will also cover Farah’s work with a portfolio which includes thousands of government-owned facilities and assets.

Energy Management for a Very Large Portfolio of Facilities with RETScreen

Canada’s Department of National Defence (DND) owns and operates over 20,000 facilities across the country and has diverse fleets of transportation assets ranging from aircraft, marine vessels, off-road and on-road vehicles and more. As such, DND plays a key role in helping the Government of Canada reach its emissions reduction targets.

In this presentation, Mats Striegler, Senior Advisor at DND, will discuss how DND was able to onboard thousands of facilities into RETScreen and using the software to develop a Carbon Neutral Pathway, validate the results of Energy Performance Contractors and energy performance investments, support feasibility studies for individual facilities, automate energy data transfers, and enhance real-time analytics.

Private Sector Showcase of a New Portfolio in RETScreen

Lush is renowned for its commitment to sustainability and the fight against climate change. The company has implemented several measures to reduce its ecological footprint, including transitioning to lower-carbon sources and investing in renewable energy projects. Currently, Lush is focusing on improving the energy efficiency and management of its processes and systems across its facilities.

In this presentation, Nicky Arthur, Energy Manager & Sustainability Specialist at Lush, will discuss how the cosmetics manufacturer and retailer uses RETScreen as its primary energy management tool in Canada. Nicky will discuss Lush’s recent adoption of RETScreen for its portfolio of manufacturing facilities and future plans for the software.
