Canada now boasts 1000 LEED-certified projects

May 23, 2013 - The Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) announced that 1000 projects across the country are now LEED-certified: 145 Certified, 316 Silver, 447 Gold and 92 Platinum across six different ratings systems. Canada has the second-largest number of certified buildings in the world after the United States, says CaGBC.

Since certifying its first project in 2005, CaGBC has been collecting data to evaluate the impact that LEED Canada has made on our energy and water consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and waste diversion. Since that time, CaGBC says we’ve realized:

• energy savings of 1,600,321 eMWh
• water savings totalling over 3.3 billion litres
