Emily Thorn Corthay is AEE Energy Engineer of the Year, 2020

November 22, 2020 – Emily Thorn Corthay, P.Eng., MASc., CEM, CMVP, founder and CEO of Thorn Associates, has been recognized as Energy Engineer of the Year 2020 by the Association of Energy Engineers. Congratulations!

According to AEE, Emily has assisted her clients in achieving over $100 million in implemented energy savings in over 15 countries. As volunteer chair of the Energy Task Force (2016-present) and board director of the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (2016-2019), she provides energy policy recommendations to government.

She has been an instructor of the Certified Energy Manager course since 2015, a keynote speaker, and author of 10 papers on energy engineering.

Emily is also co-founder and chair of the board of StepUp: an organization dedicated to “breakthrough energy management performance through improved gender equity”. She past director of Energy Optimization and Management at Hatch Ltd., an international engineering consulting firm.

Founded in 1977, the Association of Energy Engineers is a non-profit society of over 18,000 members in more than 100 countries, whose mission is to “promote the scientific and educational interests of those engaged in the energy industry, and to foster action for sustainable development”.

The International Awards—traditionally presented at the AEE World Energy Conference & Expo—were presented virtually last month.
