Sarah MacDonald joins EfficiencyOne as COO

May 17, 2021 – Sarah MacDonald has joined EfficiencyOne—which operates in Nova Scotia as Efficiency Nova Scotia—as chief operating officer.

EfficiencyOne designs and delivers resource efficiency programs and services for homes, businesses, and large industrial customers.

“I am thrilled to be joining an organization that has already played such an important role in helping Nova Scotia achieve its climate change and sustainability goals,” said Sarah MacDonald. “I look forward to helping the organization drive positive change in our energy efficiency.”

Formerly COO with Xocean (an ocean data collection services company), MacDonald had a 19-year career with Emera Inc. in various senior leadership positions, including: executive vice-president, Human Resources, Emera; CEO, Emera Utility Services; CEO, Emera Caribbean; president, Teco Services Inc.; and executive vice-president, Corporate Safety & Environment, Emera.

In her role as COO, Sarah will be responsible for all day-to-day operations of EfficiencyOne, including service delivery, customer experience and partnerships, finance and regulatory, and human resources and infrastructure.

“Sarah brings extensive strategic and operational leadership experience that will be invaluable to EfficiencyOne as we continue to expand our impact,” said Stephen MacDonald, president & CEO of EfficiencyOne.

EfficiencyOne is the non-profit supplier of energy efficiency and GHG-mitigation services in Nova Scotia. The organization reports it has reduced energy costs in the province by more than $1.4 billion since 2011, and contributed 25% of Nova Scotia’s overall GHG emission reductions.
