VIDEO – Building Science and the Envelope – Construct Canada 2011
The Energy Manager team recently attended Construct Canada 2011, quite possibly Canada’s largest construction exposition and conference. The session “New and Innovative Products for Building Envelopes”—presented by Ed Lowans—explored some of the pros and cons of new technologies, materials and systems that have been—or are being—introduced to the market for residential and small commercial projects.

So why is it important to explore the building envelope? Because, says Lowans, these components fail the most often. He wishes, in fact, that students of architecture were made to first study building science before architecture… maybe then we would have fewer failures in our built environment.
