ABB Campus Montreal receives LEED Silver accreditation
November 27, 2017 — ABB has announced that the Canadian Green Building Council has certified its Campus Montreal with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver accreditation.

ABB Campus Montreal LEED is a rating system recognized as the international mark of excellence for green building in 150 countries. The rating system enables building owners and operators to measure and benchmark building performance, impact on the environment and ways to increase efficiencies.
In order to meet the selection criteria, ABB was required to score a minimum of 40 points; Campus Montreal scored 54. Each point responded to a number of requirements that covers aspects of sustainable design including energy performance of the site, materials and resources used and the innovation involved.
Some of the achievements recognized in the LEED certification process include incorporating natural light throughout the building, including the RDA, and efficient heating and cooling, including the re-circulation of over 2 MW of heat generated through testing activities in the RDA back into the building.
Additionally, ABB installed LED motion detection lighting in most of the Campus Montreal building, as well as three green roofs and a white roof (to reduce the absorption of heat) on the main structure.
The new ABB Campus Montreal serves over 700 employees previously spread across six locations in the Greater Montreal Area. The campus houses research and development, manufacturing, assembly (RDA) and testing for ABB’s energy value chain in Quebec.
“The LEED Silver certification recognizes the commitment we have made to contributing to a clean future for Canada by reducing our footprint today, and well into the future,” said Nathalie Pilon, president of ABB Canada.
