The proposed new utility will bring natural gas service to Kincardine, Huron-Kinloss, and Arran-Elderslie, located near Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. The three municipalities, collectively known as South Bruce, selected EPCOR following a competitive process.

“We are seeing opportunities to invest in the Ontario market, and South Bruce offers a tremendous fit between EPCOR’s capabilities and the needs and aspiration of the region,” said Steve Stanley, senior vice-president of EPCOR commercial services. “EPCOR has a strong record of developing new infrastructure, and we look forward to working with the municipalities of South Bruce.”

There are a number of steps to be taken before construction can begin, EPCOR noted. This includes public consultation, and regulatory approval from the Ontario Energy Board which, if granted, is not expected until early 2017.

The South Bruce communities have a combined population of 25,000 residents.
