October 18, 2019  By  Megan Hoegler

MONTREAL, QC— Hydro-Quebec has announced the launch of Hilo, a system of energy management products, which will launch in 2020.

The line of smart home products will first be available to Hydro-Quebec customers, followed by a range of electric mobility offerings, smart storage, solar self-generation and energy services for companies.

“With Hilo, customers will become key players in the power industry,” said Éric Martel, president and CEO of Hydro-Quebec, in a release. “Collectively we can make a difference by reducing our electricity use, thus freeing up kilowatthours to power the Quebec economy and increase our exports to other North American markets. Hilo will therefore help reduce GHG emissions while also creating wealth in Quebec.”

Hilo will also offer a rewards program to customers for optimizing their power usage, allowing customers to play a role in energy supply chain.
