Johnson Controls’ York chillers now compatible with R-513A, low-GWP refrigerants
January 28, 2016 - Johnson Controls says it is enhancing its HFC product lines to be fully compatible with the non-flammable, low-GWP (global warming potential) refrigerant—Opteon XP10 (R-513A). The company says the York centrifugal and screw chillers ranging from 125 to 6000 tons (440 to 21,100 kW) are now compatible with R-513A.

Opteon XP10 (R-513A), manufactured by the Chemours Company, is a non-flammable (A1) azeotropic alternative to R-134a, providing 56% lower GWP and comparable performance, according to Johnson Controls.
“As the HVACR industry faces increasing pressure to shrink its growing environmental footprint, Opteon XP10 provides equipment owners with a hydrofluoroolefin (HFO)-based solution to reduce their refrigerant’s carbon footprint, in a broad range of end-use applications and climates, without compromising system performance,” said Diego Boeri, global business director at Chemours Fluorochemicals.
