Participants wanted in TRCA Ontario Rooftop Solar Lease Study

July 24, 2012 - The Toronto & Region Conservation Authority (TRCA)—in partnership with the City of Toronto-Renewable Energy Office—have launched the Ontario Rooftop Solar Lease Study, which invites the participation of rooftop owners from the private sector, community power FIT projects, Ontario municipalities, hospitals, colleges and universities.

The study aims to examine the experiences of building owners that have explored or successfully integrated solar photovoltaic (PV) projects into their building management strategies by either leasing their roof space to a solar developer, or purchasing their own system.

The primary objective is to learn from the experience of municipalities and other rooftop owners that have assessed the feasibility of a Rooftop Solar Lease agreement, PV system ownership, and their decision-making criteria to ultimately develop a knowledge base to help facilitate the streamlining of future projects.

The experiences of building owners throughout Ontario will be collected through an online survey. Information will also be collected during a follow-up stage of interviews with select organizations and building owners. Participants in the study will have the opportunity to be acknowledged in the final report, provided access to the report findings, and be entered into a draw for a number of prizes including.

To participate, or for more information, contact Paul Luukkonen, TRCA sustainable technologies coordinator at pluukkonen@trca.on.ca or (416) 277-3849.
